NED University triumph

KARACHI, March 1: Off-spinner Amanullah’s four-wicket haul and skipper Fazal Mohammad Khan’s fine half-century steered the NED University to an eight-wicket win over Mehran Engineering University (Jamshoro) in the Zone ‘H’ final of the Inter-university cricket tournament at the KCCA Stadium on Friday.

Batting first, Mehran University crashed to 104 all out in 37.3 overs as Amanullah captured four wickets for 32 and fellow off-spinner Fasihullah got three for 12.

The NED, in response, romped home for the loss of two wickets in 11.5 overs. Fazal Mohammad Khan smashed six fours and four sixes in his 57.

Now the Pakistan Inter-university competition will be under the auspices of NED University from Monday with 16 universities in the fray for the title.
