Navy clinch third spot

PESHAWAR, Feb 28: Pakistan Navy thrashed NWFP 3-0 to bag the third position in the National Junior Men’s Volleyball Championship here at the PSB Coaching Centre on Thursday.

The set scores for the Navy was 27-25, 25-20, 26-24.

On Wednesday, defending champions Pakistan Army and Police outclassed their respective opponents to qualify for the final.

In the first semi-final the Army overwhelmed Pakistan Navy 3-2 in two hours and 12 minutes to reach the final.

After trailing by two sets, the defending champions launched a magnificent fight-back to register a tremendous 25-21, 25-27, 26-28, 26-24, 15-6 win.

In the second semi, meanwhile, Police thrashed NWFP 3-0 to storm into the final. The set scores in the Police’s easy victory was 25-21, 25-15 and 26-24.

The tournament final will be played on Friday.—Agencies
