BEIJING, Feb 26: Pakistan has applied to host the 2011 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship, an official accompanying the Pakistan squad told APP from Guangzhou where the 49th World Team Table Tennis Championships is in progress.

The official said that the application was forwarded on Monday at the Commonwealth Table Tennis Association meeting where Pakistan was represented by S.M. Sibtain, President of the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) and manager-cum-delegate.

The meeting assured considering Pakistan’s request, the official said, pointing out that Pakistan was the sole country who had applied for hosting the championships.

He also expressed the confidence that once Pakistan’s Commonwealth membership was restored the event would be awarded to the country.
