HYDERABAD, April 13: The tail-end growers of Bawali Shakh held a protest demonstration in Matli before the office of the SDO, irrigation, on Friday, to protest against the acute shortage of water in the watercourse.

According to reports reaching here, the protesters, who were joined by the activists of several political parties and social welfare organizations, also staged a sit-in on Hyderabad-Badin road, as a result vehicular traffic remained suspended for one hour.

Talking to newsmen, the protesters complained that the big landlords of the area were stealing water by installing suction pumps on the banks of Bawali Shakh and thus they were taking away the water share of the small growers.
