DADU, April 13: One villager of Bhit Jabal was killed and two others were injured seriously by the police while 10 policemen were injured when a clash took place between the police and the protesters at Lasmo company’s Bhit Jabal project, some 50km from Sehwan, on Saturday.
A group of the Mari tribesmen led by Fazul Mari, a resident of Hyder Rind, a village of Bhit Jabal area, who was the owner of a tea shop at Bhit Jabal, went to the office in charge of the camp and requested him to get the permission for setting up the hotel permanently at the main gate of the camp, while other tribesmen demanded of the officials to provide jobs to the locals.
The officials reportedly refused to provide them jobs and did not allow the establishment of tea shop at the main gate of the camp.
The villagers staged a demonstration in front of the camp, raised slogans against the local officials of the camp for half an hour.
On receiving information, heavy contingent of three police stations, Jhangara, Shah Hassan and Naing Sharif, cordoned off the area.
The police ordered the protesters to disperse but the protesters refused to oblige and hurled stones on the police and also allegedly snatched a government Kalashnikov from a policeman and resorted to aerial firing. The police also returned the fire.
In the exchange of fire, Fazal Mari, 18, son of Lal Bux, was killed on the spot, two labourers of Lasmo, Ghulam Nabi Mari and Laloo Mari, received bullet injuries, while 10 policemen were also injured.
The situation in Lasmo’s Bhit Jabal camp is reported to be very tense.
Many Mari tribesmen had surrounded the camp. The police and security men of Lasmo were trying to control the situation till filing of this report.
