Selectors make changes in squads

KARACHI, Feb 19: The national cricket selectors on Wednesday made minor changes in four of the five teams competing in the Pentangular Cup.

Mohammad Sami, the Pakistan fast bowler, has opted out of the Sindh squad.

Sami not only skipped the opening match against the NWFP last week, but also failed to report for nets, according to Sindh coach Jalaluddin.

Sami, who turns 27 on Feb 24, has been reportedly linked with the controversial Indian Cricket League along with his Sindh team-mate Hasan Raza, who also didn’t play against the NWFP.

The selectors have inducted paceman Fahad Khan in place of Sami in the Sindh squad.

Saeed Ajmal has been drafted in the Federal Areas’ squad after Atif Maqbool reported unfit.

In other changes, former Test batsmen Imran Nazir and Naved Latif have also pulled out.

Naved’s replacement in the Punjab squad is pacer Fahad Masood, while Imran’s place in the Balochistan squad has gone to left-handed opener Agha Sabir.
