LAHORE, Feb 18: Foreign observers visited various polling stations in the city on Monday to monitor the electoral process.
The observers belonged to the European Union, Norway, Canada, Japan and Saarc countries.
Officials of various foreign embassies, especially of the United States and the United Kingdom, also played the role of election monitors by going to different polling stations and calling upon politicians.
The government had issued visas to 200 observers, 120 from the EU only, and including foreign journalists the number reached 2,000.
The Commonwealth as well as America had refused to send their observers saying it would be of no use as the polls had already been rigged.
