Candidate shot dead

LAHORE, Feb 17: A PML-N candidate for PP-154 and two of his workers were killed and six others injured in firing outside his election office in Green Town on Sunday night, hospital and police sources told Dawn.

The Jinnah Hospital medical superintendent, Zahid Pervez, confirmed the death of PML-N candidate Chaudhry Asif Ashraf and workers Aijaz and Shahbaz.

Police said Mr Ashraf, along with his men and guards, left his Pindi Stop election office on Sunday night. As he covered some distance, some unidentified people ambushed him.

The firing left him and two of his workers injured. The injured were taken to the Jinnah Hospital where he and the two workers died.—Staff Reporter
