DUHS wins 4th AKU throwball title

KARACHI, Feb 15: The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) clinched the 4th Aga Khan University (AKU) Inter-university throwball (for girls) title by beating Institute of Business Administration (IBA) 3-1, here at the AKU sports centre gymnasium.

The final was a thrilling affair with neck to neck finishes, the scores being: 14-16, 15-08, 15-06 and 16-14.

The match was refereed by Nuzhat Javed and Gulrukh and by Naureen Kanwal and Mohammad Riaz as the side referees.

The chief guest on the occasion, Dr Gauhar Afshan, director, Pain Fellowship Programme and associate professor, Department of Anaesthesia, AKU, presented the winning trophy to the DUHS captain Sidrah Saad and the runner up trophy to IBA’s captain Saadia Wajid.

Anam Shaikh of DUHS was the best player of the tournament while Sarah Hameed of IBA received the consolation prize.—PPI
