KARACHI: PPP men granted bail

KARACHI, Feb 12: The judicial magistrate-III, Central, Khushi Mohammad, on Tuesday, granted bail to a

PPP candidate and a worker against surety bonds of Rs50,000 each.

Sohail Dehlavi, contesting the Feb 18 elections from PS-99 on the ticket of the Pakistan People’s Party, and Abdul Jabbar, a PPP activist, were arrested on Feb 7 on charges of allegedly kidnapping, threatening and torturing Ismail Rajput, a union council nazim of New Karachi Town.

The accused moved a bail application through their counsel, Qazi Bashir, before the court. The judge granted bail to the accused after hearing arguments on the application.

The police had registered three cases against the accused at New Karachi police station on the complaint of Ismail Rajput under Sections 337-F, 365, 392 and 353/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
