KASUR, Feb 11: Around two dozen locals attacked a police party and helped a proclaimed offender (PO) flee from the custody of Sarai Mughal police near Pattoki, some 80 kilometres away from here on Monday.

Some villagers and two policemen sustained injuries in the battle and the police later claimed to have arrested two of the attackers.

The police was informed that a PO, Muhammad Iqbal, was present in a hideout in his village Jaggowala Chak 40. The police raided the hideout and captured the PO.

In the meantime, around 25 villagers led by Atta Muhammad armed with clubs attacked the police party. The police also resorted to baton charging the villagers, injuring some of them. Iqbal, However, fled.

The police later claimed to have arrested two villagers, Basharat Ali and Khushi Muhammad. They also registered a case and were raiding to spot Iqbal again.

SODOMY: A 10-year-old boy was allegedly subjected to sodomy in Chunnian police precincts on Monday. Zahid Shoukat, a Class-V student, was returning home from school when Asif Maqsood allegedly took him to an outhouse of his friend Daood where he raped him. A case has been registered against Asif.
