QUETTA, April 11: The Society for Community Support for Primary Education in Balochistan (SCSPEB) organized a school seminar on health and hygiene and to promote girls education in Mastung on Wednesday.

The seminar was held under Education For All (EFA) project of Unesco, Islamabad, and its objective was to promote education and ensure support for female education and promote health and hygiene practices in Mastung Tehsil through strengthening community-government partnership.

Speaking on the occasion, Unesco Director Ingeborg Breines lauded the efforts made by SCSPEB in promoting girls education and health and hygiene practices among the community of the area.

She stressed the need for importance of teachers’ training. “Unesco is not a big funding agency but, within our limited resources, we are trying to promote female education in Balochistan,” she added.

Mr Irfan Ahmad Awan, Director of SCSPEB, while speaking at the seminar, informed the participants about the background, objectives and impact of the project that helped enrol more than 1000 girls in 68 girls schools of Mastung Tehsil.

“Our project has proved very beneficial for the girls of the area but in the context of Education For All its scope needs to be extended to boys schools also to get maximum results.

Later, Director of Unesco distributed prizes among those schools that maintained high enrolment and standard of hygiene practices. Later, Director of SCSPEB presented a traditional Shawl to the Director of Unesco and Prof Ejaz Ahmad presented a shield to her and a souvenir to the District Nazim of Mastung.
