Six killed, 21 hurt on road

SIALKOT, April 11: Six people were killed and 21 others received serious wounds in three fatal road accidents in the Sialkot district during the last 24 hours.

A speeding wagon (LHP-523) on its way to Pasrur overturned on the Sialkot-Pasrur Road near Lungay village. Muhammad Subhan, Aslam and Saleem died instantly while 20 others sustained injuries. They were admitted to the Pasrur Civil Hospital where five of them were stated to be in critical condition.

A speeding truck crushed to death a newly-wed couple. Muhammad Ejaz and his wife were going on a motorcycle when they met an accident at China Chowk on the Kashmir Road, Sialkot.

On the Defence Road, Sialkot, motorcyclist Muhammad Asghar was knocked down and killed by a speeding car (LOT-2324).

Police have registered cases.

INJURED: A young man sustained injuries in Indian shelling on Pakistani border village Khokharah in Sucheetgarh sector on Thursday.

Naveed Ali, 25, was working in the fields when some bullets fired by Indian soldiers hit him. He was admitted to the Sialkot CMH in critical condition.

According to official sources, the Indian Border Security Force continued intensive shelling on Pakistani border villages in Chhumb Joriyaan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Jammu, Akhnoor, Saamba and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors of Sialkot working boundary, badly disrupting sowing of the seasonal crops.

They said the Chenab Rangers thwarted another major Indian attempt to fence border near Jammu-Akhnoor sector early in the morning. They returned the fire killing three Indian soldiers and inuring several others besides causing heavy loss to the enemy.

The firing between the Chenab Rangers and the Indian forces was continuing till the filing of the report late in the evening.
