PESHAWAR, Feb 10: The Fata Secretariat is likely to drop the Rs46 million proposed plan to build a separate block -- tribal gallery -- in the Peshawar Museum, it is learnt.

Sources said that a new proposal was under consideration to establish archival and reference libraries in headquarters of the seven tribal regions in the Fata (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) instead of the proposed gallery in the Peshawar Museum.

They said the archival material, which had been dumped at various offices of political authorities and other government organisations, would be shifted to these reference libraries. Presently there was no well maintained public library in the tribal region.

Management of the Peshawar Museum had proposed establishment of a tribal gallery in the museum in 2004 and the then governor had agreed with the plan. Sources said that the PC-I of the proposed project had been finalised.
