SUKKUR, Feb 8: The Anti-terrorism Court-II Sukkur, on Friday ordered release of 73 people including workers of Pakistan People’s Party booked by police on charges of violence following assassination of Party’s Chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto in December last.

It may be mentioned here that following the assassination of PPP Chairperson on December 27, Sukkur police booked 73 PPPP leaders and workers on charges of violence and causing damage to public and private properties.

An FIR#205/2007 was registered at the “A” Section Police Station Sukkur by the gatekeeper of Pakistan Railway Sleeper Factory, Hafiz Amanullah on December 28, 2007 in which 46 persons were booked among which 11 nominated, including Nazim UC-10 Mohammad Yousuf Jagirani, Lal Mohammad Bhutto member district council, Mohammad Ayub Bhutto, Bahadur Khan Naib Nazim UC-7, Din Mohammad Businessman, Shamsuddin Qureshi industrialist and Zaib Mangi Manager National bank of Pakistan Rohri branch and others.

Another FIR No. 206/2007 was registered on December 30, 2007 at the same police station by the Clerk Information Department, Mohammad Suleman against 27 persons with 11 nominated who were already in FIR No. 205.

On Friday all 73 were produced in the Anti-terrorism Court-II Sukkur and Judge Mohammad Iqbal Arain after thorough hearing, termed both FIRS false and baseless and ordered immediate release of all 73 people.
