KARACHI, Feb 6: Two ships carrying wheat and chemicals were berthed at the port during the last 24 hours.

According to a PQA press release four vessels — MV Yick Shun, Shinta Ku, Maersk Montana and Capt Haris — sailed out to the sea.

Five ship carrying containers, wheat, furnace oil and canola seeds also arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.

Berth occupancy was maintained at 50 per cent as six ships M V Nedlloyd America, Maersk Montana, Capt Hares, Johm GR, Theodosia and Shinto Ku occupied berths to load, unload containers, rice, clinker, wheat and chemicals, respectively.

The port handled a cargo volume of 41,168 tons, comprising 16,124 tons of import cargo and 25,044 tons of export cargo, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,744 containers (Teus).
