Landslide claims six lives

QUETTA, Feb 3: Six Children of a family of nomads were killed and three others injured in a landslide on Sunday night in the Bibi Nani area of Bolan district, some 110km east of here, police said.

According to police sources, nine children of the family had gone out to collect firewood when a large rock broke away from a mountain because of heavy rain lashing the district for six days.

All the nine children, aged between 6 and 10 years, were buried. People of the nearby areas rushed to the place and rescued three of them from the debris.

However, six children, four girls and two boys, were found dead. The three others who received injuries were taken to the hospital.

“Six children, brothers and sisters, died on the spot,” police sources said.
