JI to stage rally on 5th

Published February 2, 2008

LAHORE, Feb 1: The Jamaat-i-Islami will hold a rally on The Mall on Feb 5 to show solidarity with the Kashmiris struggling to get their right to self-determination.

A decision to the effect was announced by party’s Lahore chapter amir Hafiz Salman Butt at a press conference here on Friday.

Participants of the rally will march from Nasser Bagh up to the Punjab Assembly.

Salman Butt said camps would be set up at 20 locations in the city on Feb 3 and 4 to mobilise the citizens for attending the solidarity show. Handbills would also be distributed to highlight the Kashmir issue.

He alleged that offering of various options by President Musharraf had put the Kashmir dispute in cold storage ignoring over 100,000 sacrifices given by the Kashmiris.
