KARACHI, April 9: An additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ghulam Qadir Leghari, sentenced on Tuesday a bandit to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on Mohammed Tariq, who was caught red-handed on November 1, 1995 following a shootout with police in New Karachi.
According to the prosecution, two bandits were intercepted by a police party after a robbery attempt in a shop. During the exchange of fire with police, one of the bandits, who was later identified as Shakeel alias Guard, was killed and police arrested Tariq.
Tariq would have to undergo an additional two months’ RI if he failed to pay the fine.
