PESHAWAR, Jan 31: The three militants who were killed in mysterious circumstances here on Wednesday were members of the Al Qaeda network, sources in the police department told Dawn.

The third victim whose identification could not be established earlier was recognised by relatives as Zerullah Mohmand, a resident of Chishtiabad.

An official, pleading his anonymity, said that police had got enough evidences which proved that the militants were following policies of the terrorist network.

An investigation officer said three persons Ihsanullah, Ismail and Mohammad Wali were being grilled in police custody and a five-day physical remand of the accused had been sought from a local court.

“One of the victims, Ali Rehman, was expert of manufacturing locally made bombs and at the time of the incident he was busy imparting training to his two associates,” the source said.
