SANGHAR, Jan 31: The district council members here on Thursday protested against the increasing cases of theft and non-availability of vaccines for livestock in the district.
At the district council’s session, they said the field staff of the animal husbandry department was not performing their duties accordingly.
The council members said that property of the district council worth millions of rupees were also illegally being occupied by land-grabbers.
They said street crimes, motorbike snatching and cattle theft cases were on increase and police have failed to control the situation.
The council members said that vaccines for cattle were not available and veterinary doctors only vaccinate the cattle belonging to influential people.
Council members, Faqir Noor Hussain, Umer Khan Khattak, Ismail Dars, Dr Mohammad Sharif, Dilbar Chang and many others spoke on the occasion.
District officer livestock, Dr Javed Gujjar, who had appeared before the council, said that there were no funds at their disposal and that was the reason for non-availability of vaccines and medicines for livestock.
During the meeting, another council member, Ms Abida raised the issue of kidnappings she said that professional beggars were involved in kidnapping of children.
