LANDI KOTAL, Jan 23: Two people were killed and five others injured by a mysterious blast on a dumper truck in the Jamrud area of Khyber tribal region on Wednesday evening.

Witnesses said that two persons were trying to board the dumper going to Peshawar when the explosion occurred, killing the two men on the spot.

Officials said that the motive behind the blast and the nature of the device could not be ascertained. They suspected the men who died were carrying the device for terrorist activities in the area.

The wounded men were taken to the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar and doctors said their condition was stable.

THREATS: Owners of CD shops in the Karkhano market in Peshawar had received threats from militants asking them to wind up their businesses or ‘face consequences’. Earlier this month, some CD shops in the market known for smuggled goods were destroyed by bomb blasts.
