PESHAWAR, April 7: The Pakistan Peoples Party (Sherpao group) has flayed the torture on its workers, who were picked up by the police from outside the accountability court on Saturday.

Speaking at a news conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Sunday, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao alleged that the police had tortured some selected activists of the PPP during detention in the lock-up. Many party activists attended the conference.

He said, since the return of Aftab Khan Sherpao from abroad the police had been harassing PPP workers who used to visit the court in Peshawar. The police had first resorted to tear-gas and then beaten workers who arrived here from far flung areas to have a glimpse of their leader inside the court premises, he added.
