HYDERABAD, April 7: The former MPAs, Syed Afzal Ahmed Shah, Dr Arif Razmi and Zafar Ali Rajput, have called upon the authorities concerned to take notice of the anti-workers policies of the administration of Zeal Pak Cement Factory.

In a joint statement issued here on Sunday, they said that 600 employees of the factory were given golden handshake but the cheques of only 50 per cent workers who were favourite of the administration were encashed.

They pointed out that even gas and power supply to the workers colony had been disconnected one year back and the workers were facing many hardships.

The former Haq Parast members of the Sindh Assembly, urged the authorities to take notice of the “sadistic mentality” of the factory administration and resolve the problems of the workers.

Meanwhile, a disabled former employee of the factory, S.M. Iqbal, resident of Qauidabad Colony, Phuleli, Hyderabad, in an appeal to the President of Pakistan and other authorities, has said that if his economic problems were not resolved, he could commit suicide.

He said that under one per cent quota reserved for disable persons, he was given appointment in the factory but was sent home under the golden handshake scheme. He said that he was later reappointed on daily wage basis but again was sacked.

He complained that he had not been paid the golden handshake amount of Rs 275,000 as yet.
