LAHORE, Jan 19: Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was ‘easily’ available in the city as its prices dropped from Rs120 to Rs80 per kilo after all 1,500 retail shops here reopened on Saturday.

However, the outlets of the Liquefied Gas Association of Pakistan were selling the gas at Rs65 per kilo.

LPG retailers decided to reopen their shops after an assurance from the City District Government of Lahore that they would not be arrested and prosecuted.

LPG Distributors Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar said gas prices would fall further after the ‘panic buying’ ends during the next few days.

He said gas availability and prices would be reviewed at a meeting of the distributors and marketing companies to be presided over by District Coordination Officer Mian Ijaz on Tuesday.—Reporter
