MIRPURKHAS, Jan 18: A three-member delegation of the European Union election observers led by Christa Mueller visited the office of Election Commission in Mirpurkhas and got information about the arrangements of the forthcoming general election.

The delegation visited a local church and also met the DPO and People’s Party office-bearers and acquired information about the law and order situation, sensitive polling stations and other elections related matters.

They refused to talk to media when some journalists approached them for comments.

Meanwhile, the delegation also visited Sukkur and Khairpur where it held meetings with political figures, elected representatives and district government officials. The EU delegation reviewed the arrangements at the local offices of the Election Commission. They held a meeting with Sukkur District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.

Later, talking to newsmen the mission members said they had received complaints from several candidates about expected rigging during the elections.

They said the mission would hand over its report to chief of the European mission for Pakistan.—PPI
