Tribute paid to Fazil Rahu

BADIN, Jan 17: Rich tribute was paid to Fazil Rahu on Thursday at a commemoration service held to mark his 21st death anniversary in the Rahuki village of Badin. Mr Rahu was founder of the Awami Tehrik and leader of peasants.

The speakers at the anniversary reiterated to continue the mission of the late leader for the emancipation of poor from the shackles of an exploitative system.

Besides others, Nazeer Ahmed Memon, Mohammad Ismail Rahu, Mohammad Aslam Rahu, Khalil Qazi and Mitho Maheri spoke on the occasion.

Mohammad Ismail Rahu said his father, late Fazil Rahu, joined politics in 1970 and was jailed thrice during his struggle. His father was neither a feudal nor traditional politician but did miracles in politics, he said.

He said the anniversary was being observed in a simple manner and no advertisement was published in newspapers, however, a large number of his followers had reached to pay him tributes.

Aslam Rahu, another son of the late Fazil Rahu, pledged that he, along with his supporters, would carry the message of his father to every nook and corner of the country. He called upon people to launch a united struggle for changing the system.

Nazeer Ahmed Memon said that late Fazil Rahu was an institution and he was his student. Khalil Qazi, Mitho Maheri, Dada Suleman, Faiz Mohammad and others recalled the services and contribution of the late leader in creating awareness among the masses.—Correspondent
