SL bank on pace for tri-series

COLOMBO, Jan 14: Sri Lanka have picked six fast bowlers in a 15-man squad for next month’s tri-series in Australia which also involves India.

Chaminda Vaas leads the pace attack with support from Lasith Malinga, Farveez Maharoof, Chanaka Welegedara, Nuwan Kulasekera and Ishara Amerasinghe.

There is no specialist spinner in the squad to support Muttiah Muralitharan. Their first tri-series game is against India in Brisbane on Feb 5.

Squad: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Kumar Sangakkara (wicket-keeper), Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Dilruwan Perera, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Chanaka Welegedara, Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Farveez Maharoof, Ishara Amerasinghe.—Reuters
