Toba bar elects new officials

TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 14: Jamaat-i-Islami-backed Ittefaq group’s candidate Mian Shoaib Muhammad was elected District Bar Association president after defeating Ittehad group’s candidate Iqbal Butt.

Mian Shoaib bagged 161 votes while his rival got 151 only.

Mian Muhammad Rafiq was elected vice-president, Sardar Rafiq Dogar general-secretary, Mian Zeeshan Rasool joint-secretary, and Iftikhar Khan Niazi finance-secretary.

Israr Ahmad and Malik Irshadul Haq had already been elected unopposed for the slots of librarian and auditor, respectively.

Chaudhry Tariq Gujjar, Chaudhry Munir Ahmad, Mian Abdul Sattar, Sarfraz Ahmad Khan and Chaudhry Muhammad Siddiq were elected members of the executive body.
