PESHAWAR, Jan 11: Activists of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) on Friday took out a procession from the central mosque of Namak Mandi against wheat shortage and loadshedding of electricity and gas.
The procession later turned into a public meeting at the Bajauri Gate.
Protesters raised slogans against government. They demanded an end to loadshedding and wheat crisis.
Addressing the protesters, JUI leaders Maulana Jalil Jan, Asif Iqbal Daudzai and Maulana Amanullah Haqaani said that the caretaker government has failed to overcome the wheat crisis and loadshedding of electricity and gas.
Criticising the government, they said the prolonged loadshedding of electricity had made the life miserable. People had no other option but to come to streets to register their protest, they added.
They claimed that the MMA government had focussed on the solution of people’s real problems and completed record number of development schemes during its five-year tenure.
The speakers warned that if the government did not take serious steps, the people would continue their protest.
