KARACHI, Jan 9: Five ships scheduled to load and offload containers, rice, chemicals and furnace oil were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another ship container vessel also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy was managed at 70 per cent at the wharves where seven ships, Lugano, Nedlloyd Africa, Bolan, Zabrjed, Leopard-B, Sea Lion and Chemstar Hero, were busy in loading/offloading containers, rice, cement, furnace oil and chemicals.

A cargo volume of 64,856 tons comprising 53,373 tons of import and 11,483 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was slow as only Chemstar Hero left the port while Lugano was due to depart.
