KOHAT, Jan 8: The district education department on Tuesday withdrew a criminal case against a high school student who allegedly fired shots at his class teacher for detaining him during an examination a couple of days ago, it is learnt.

Sources said that Adil, a student of class X at the Government High School, Mills Area, allegedly attacked the teacher on the promises of the school.

The teacher lodged a complaint against Adil and he was arrested. Later, he was released on bail.

On Tuesday, a jirga was held for resolving the issue.

The authorities of the education department pardoned the student but rusticated him from the school.

Speaking on the occasion, the executive district officer of the Education Department, Imtiazul Haq said that parents should monitor the activities of their children.

APPOINTMENTS CANCELLED: The district health department has cancelled appointments of 29 candidates who were selected for various posts last week on the orders of the district nazim, it is lerant on Tuesday.

Official sources said the health department had advertised 60 vacancies from BPS 4 to 8 for which interviews and written tests were conducted by a committee headed by the district coordination officer, Kamran Zeb.

Interviews of majority of the candidates were conducted by the health department officials and the executive district officer (Finance), Wahidur Rehman Khattak in the absence of the DCO. However, aAfter some reports of anomalies in the appointments, the district nazim held in abeyance the order for the appointments of 29 candidates whose fate now would be decided after the Feb 18 elections.
