Man killed as truck rams into van

HARIPUR, Jan 7: A man was killed and four other people suffered injuries in an accident on GT Road near Shah Mohammad area on Monday evening.

Witnesses and police said that a Haripur-bound van was picking passengers at the Shah Mohammad stop when a reckless driver rammed his truck into the stationary vehicle, killing one and injuring four persons.

The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital in Haripur, but later two critically wounded persons were referred to the Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad, where Safdar Khan, son of Mohammad Khan of village Bagra, died.

Meanwhile, a schoolboy suffered a gunshot wound when his pistol went off accidentally.

He was identified as Saquib, a student of 10th class at the Government Centennial Model School for Boys. The boy was taken to the Ayub Medical Complex.
