SHIKARPUR: Passengers looted

SHIKARPUR, Jan 5: Armed men snatched rifles from policemen, looted passengers of a wagon and kidnapped its driver on Kandhkot-Shikarpur road in the jurisdiction of Khanpur police station, on Saturday morning.

Reports said eight armed men intercepted a Sukkur-bound wagon coming from Kandhkot and snatched rifles from two police constables, Abdul Ghafoor Hakro and Ali Nawaz Memon of Khanpur police station, who were travelling in the wagon.

The dacoits looted cash and other valuables from passengers and kidnapped driver Mewal Bakhrani and the wagon.

DPO Shikarpur Mansoor Mughal told Dawn that a police contingent had been deployed to search the culprits and hoped that the kidnapped driver and the looted goods would be recovered soon.

CONDOLENCE: Quran Khwani and condolence meetings for Ms Benazir Bhutto at different places were held here on Friday.
