LEIAH, April 3: Five members of a family were axed to death on Tuesday night in their house in Chak 280/TDA, some 20km from here.

Information gleaned by this correspondent disclosed Bahawalsher, 50, his wife Zareen, 45, daughters Nazia, 18, Asia, 16, and son Shahid Iqbal, 5, were found dead in their house.

The bodies were sent to the Azam Chowk rural health centre for autopsy.

Some of the residents in the locality believed strife in family might be the cause of the murders.

The Azam Chowk police station SHO said the case would be registered after necessary formalities.
