The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the consultants, professors, associate professors, registrars, medical officers and students, who met here at the AMC on Tuesday.

A 15-member joint action committee was formed under the banner of the Frontier Doctors Association, Abbottabad. The FDA nominated Dr Nisar Khan, president; Dr Aziz-ur-Rehman, vice-president; Dr Naeem, vice-president; Dr Mukeet, general secretary. Two nominees of students, house officers, medical officers and registrars were included in the cabinet.

The meeting was attended by more then 300 teaching and non-teaching staff of the Ayub Medical Complex Hospital and College with representatives from Mansehra district.

The meeting passed three resolutions in which the rigid attitude of the government high-ups was strongly criticised and a dialogue as a way out urged. Besides, the GST on medicines was opposed and harassment of doctors community flayed.

The meeting also demanded the establishment of a task force comprising senior doctors and others to frame a comprehensive health policy, specially from the point of view of the institutional-based practice.
