ISLAMABAD, April 3: The second consignment of 150 metric tons of relief goods was dispatched to Kabul from here on Tuesday for the victims of the devastating earthquake that jolted northern Afghanistan.

The relief goods were handed over to Afghan Charge d’ Affaire Rahmatullah Musa Ghazi by Cabinet Secretary Javed Masud at a ceremony, held at the warehouse of the emergency relief cell of the Cabinet Division.

Sixteen trucks loaded with “Gift from people of Pakistan for Afghan Brethren”, carrying 4,000 blankets, 400 tents, 50 tons of wheat flour, 50 tons of rice, 10 tons of sugar, 10 tons of pulses and 2,500 tins of cooking oil, besides medicines, left here for Kabul.

The first consignment, comprising tents, blankets and medicines, was flown in a C-130 plane to Kabul for the earthquake victims on March 28.

Mr Ghazi thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for their assistance “at this critical moment for the victims of the earthquake.”—APP
