SIALKOT, April 3: More than 13 houses were badly damaged by Indian shelling on Pakistani border villages Jhumat, Anwala, Stima, Umranwali, Charwa and Joyiaan along working boundary’s Charwa sector on Wednesday.

Official sources told Dawn that the Indian Border Security Force increased shelling on Pakistani border villages in Chhumb Joriyaan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Harpal, Sucheetgarh, Chaprar, Charwa, Jammu, Akhnoor, Saamba and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors. The shelling disrupted sowing of sunflower and watermelon.

No casualty has yet been reported.

Sources said the Chenab Rangers thwarted another Indian attempt to fence border near Saamba sector early in the morning. The Rangers also destroyed an ammunition depot of Indian forces.

The exchange of fire between the Chenab Rangers and Indian forces was continuing till filing of this report late in the evening.
