PESHAWAR, April 3: The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) will give 12 per cent of the total arrears to its officers who would effect recovery of dues from dead defaulters in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

The chairman of Wapda recently directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to give reward to the recovery officers in an attempt to expedite dues recovery campaign in the tribal areas.

The company last week disconnected power supply to consumers in Dara Adamkhel that caused disturbance in the area and angry tribesmen attacked the high voltage line passing through the Kohat frontier region.

A press release issued here on Wednesday said a meeting of Pesco was held in which the on-going recovery drive in the Frontier Region (FR), Kohat, was discussed.

The meeting was informed that NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah had fully supported the dues recovery drive from dead defaulters in the area. Pesco commercial director was directed to speed up the recovery campaign from the defunct Peshawar municipal corporation.

The company has millions of outstanding dues against the corporation.—Bureau Report
