LAHORE, Jan 1: Six more matches were decided in the 47th National Basketball Championship on its third day at the Railways Stadium on Tuesday.

National champions Wapda continued their progress with a fine 87-48 win against Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC).Wapda owed their win to Shahid Ali who single-handedly guided the team to success contributing 20 points while Jahangir added 14.

Wapda led the first half 39-21. KESC top scorer was Javed Khan (14).

Railways outplayed Higher Education Commission (HEC) 69-35 after earning a 43-19 lead at the half time. For Railways, Allah Baksh with 20 points and Abdul Rehman with 18 were the prominent contributors.

However, HEC in their second outing of the day defeated Sindh 80-50.

HEC after their loss to Railways regained confidence through the win as they also led the first half 57-30. Their main scorers were Haris (24) and Kashif (15). Farhan (18) and Shabbir (14) fought well for Sindh.

Sindh also lost to Rangers 68-35 after going down 44-19 in the first session.

Niamatullah and Nadeem with nine points each were the major scorers for the winners. Sindh main scorer was Shabbir with 17 points.

In one of the toughest matches of the day, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) edged past POF Wah 61-52 after leading the first half 40-38. International player Falak Fareed earned three valuable points in the end to lead his side to victory. Adnan Khan was top scorer with 20 points. Ishrat Shah (18) and Ehsan ullah (16) shone for the losers.

Navy routed KESC 63-33 after establishing a 39-17 half-time lead. Zaheer (20) and Shaharyar (15) were the chief scorers for the winners while Ahmed (20) made good contributions for the losers.
