LAHORE, April 2: The Lahore High Court Bar Association on Tuesday asked Israel to withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories and the Pakistan government to immediately recognize the ‘independent Palestinian state.’

The demands were added on the motion of Advocate Malik Saeed Hasan, a former LHC judge, to a resolution adopted by the LHCBA general body. The resolution was moved by Advocates Mian Jahangir, Abid Sadiq Bhatti and others. It was also endorsed by the Lahore (district) Bar Association.

A group of lawyers, including LHCBA president Chaudhry Muzzammil Khan, vice-president Khawar Ikram Bhatti, secretary Shahid Mahmood Bhatti and finance secretary Tanvir Mah-mood Chaudhry and LBA chief Chaudhry Nisar Ali Kausar, later walked to the LHC gate opening on The Mall to express solidarity with the victims of Israeli oppression. — Staff Reporter
