PESHAWAR, Dec 25: An organisation called Tanzeemul Momineen (TM) on Tuesday called upon the government to bring en end to bloody clashes in Kurram Agency and help the stranded people by opening the main Thal-Parachinar road which is lying closed for over a month.

The demand came during a protest the Tanzeem held here in front of the Peshawar Press Club against the clashes between various factions in the agency.

The representatives of the organisation said that people of the agency were facing food shortage and injured persons were unable to access health facilities because of the road closure.

They lamented that the situation had not changed much despite a meeting held between NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai and the elders representing various sects during his visit to the agency a few days back.

On the occasion, the governor had stressed on concrete steps to end the crisis and held out an assurance that the main road would be opened soon, but unfortunately the Thal-Parachinar road was lying blocked.

The TM urged the government to restore peace in the agency and ensure safety to vehicles passing through different roads in the area.

They also asked the PIA management to restore flights on Peshawar-Parachinar route.

They called upon the government to arrest those responsible for the clashes in the agency.
