KOHAT, Dec 23: In a daring robbery, some suspected Taliban barged into the heavily guarded office of the Assistant Political Agent of Kohat, tied up his guards and some officers with ropes and looted cash and weapons on Friday. They also took away two vehicles.

Police sources told Dawn that armed Taliban men knocked at the door of official residence of Naib Tehsiladar Anwar situated inside the compound of the APA office at around 2.15am.

“When I opened the door, I found four masked men armed with Kalashnikovs, who asked me to accompany them. They tied my hands and locked me in a room of a mini jail. I found Subedar Shahzad and two guards lying on the floor, blindfolded in another room,” Anwar told police.

Police said the subedar escaped from the lock-up through a small window and got other inmates freed. During the search of office, they found a car, a truck and some Kalashnikovs missing.

The naib tehsildar said that when he entered his room he found his official gun, Rs25000 in cash, a TV set and two mobile phones missing.

The naib tehsildar immediately called police for help, but Taliban had fled before police teams arrived at the APA office.

The in-charge of police station concerned told Dawn on Sunday that the Political Administration would register a complete report about the quantity of missing arms later.
