GUJRANWALA, Dec 23: Rana Bilal Ejaz, a former federal parliamentary secretary and now PML-Q candidate for NA-100, escaped unhurt a life attempt, however his two supporters sustained bullet injuries here on Thursday.

Ejaz along with his supporters was campaigning in Tung Kalan locality near Naushera Virkan on Tatley Aali Road when assailants shot at him, injuring Nadeem Ahmed and Zulfiqar Ahmed, a councillor of Qilla Bhattian, however Ejaz escaped unhurt. The injured were later hospitalised where Zulifiqar expired. The police rushed to the scene and arrested four suspects.

Tatley Aali SHO Shehbaz Hunjra told Dawn that the incident was outcome of enmity between two rival groups.

Ejaz confirmed attack on his life. However, he rejected the SHO’s view and said that both victims were his supporters. He also said that he would not lodge any case.
