PESHAWAR, Dec 20: An internet cafe and two CD shops were blown up in various areas of the provincial capital on Thursday.

According to police, owners of the destroyed shops lodged complaints against unidentified people. Explosives had been planted inside the shops.

A high-ranking police official said the explosion left police with no other option but to force the owners of internet cafes, snooker clubs, CD and video shops to close their businesses, which was not being tolerated by the Taliban (militants).

On Dec 18, two bomb explosions had damaged the shrine of Abdul Shakoor Baba in the Chamkani area.

On Dec 19, a bomb blast had damaged the gate of a police check post in Jabba Suhails.

Police officials at Yakatuth police station said they were not sure if the explosion had been caused by a bomb, rocket or grenade.

Another explosion on the same day had destroyed a video shop in the Chamkani Bazaar.

The police had so far failed to find any clue about the culprits involved in the day toady explosions.
