BADIN, Dec 20: Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh Justice (Rtd) Abdul Qadir Halepoto has urged the people to exercise their right of vote without any fear as all arrangements have been made to ensure safety and protection of voters and the staff.
Talking to journalists at the circuit house here on Wednesday evening, Mr Halepoto said that the allegation of post poll rigging was habit of those who were alleging pre-poll rigging, as they had no other words to blame the government. He said government had made foolproof arrangements for conducting fair and free polls.
However, he said that it was duty of the election commission and the electoral staff nominated for this purpose, to clear all doubts. He said Sindh government would not allow any hurdle in the smooth polling.
The Sindh chief minister said that government officials would be brought to book if found guilty for giving favour to any political party or figure. He said, action had already been taken against those officials against whom evidence were produced before the government.
To a question, he said that there was no shortage of wheat stock in the government godowns, as it has taken all timely and necessary steps for smooth distribution of the commodity, however, some hoarders were trying to create wheat and flour shortage against which government has taken action and such an action would continue till the rates become normal.
He lauded the work done by the District Nazim Ali Anwar Halepoto and announced Rs500,000 for public park and Thalassaemia Centre each and Rs1 million for civil hospital and Rs2 million for Mir Ghulam Mohammad Talpur engineering college Badin.
Earlier, the chief minister expressed his profound grief over the railway accident near Mehrabpur. He said, such accidents, whether an act of subversion or not, would never be tolerated. He said that he had ordered for rescue operation and added those found responsible for the tragedy would not be spared.
MOBILE TOWER: The caretaker CM ordered action against a mobile company which intended to install its tower in the residential area of Bhurgari Mohalla when a complaint was submitted to him.
Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated Mir Ghulam Mohammad Khan Talpur Engineering College, which is being established at a cost of Rs1,295 million. The college would have four disciplines i.e. petroleum, textile, chemical and engineering. At least 300 students be admitted to the college.
animals: Arrival of sacrificial animals for Eidul Azha is less than the previous year, as a result of which their price have shot up making it impossible for middle class people to purchase animal of their choice.
A random survey of the improvised cattle Piris on Tuesday revealed that an average price of animal i.e. buffalo, cow and goat was quoted double than the last year. The low income earners, as a result, contributed their share in sacrificial animal.
Similarly, the price of goat has also gone up, which varied at the Bakra Piris at Kazia canal ground and Golarchi road ground. The prices ranged between Rs6,000 to Rs15,000. Most of the people have decided to purchase the sacrificial animals from the villages from where they got healthy animal at an affordable price.
