Bangladesh tour match washed out

HAMILTON, Dec 18: Bangladesh’s bowlers had a sound workout before rain washed out their one-day tour match against a Northern Districts provincial side on Tuesday.

Nazmul Hossain took 2 wickets for 32 runs and Shadadat Hossain had 2-38, opening the bowling, as Northern were restricted to 173-7 in 41 overs in an innings twice disrupted by rain.

Bangladesh were set 201 to win in their 41 overs under the Duckworth/Lewis scoring system but their batsmen had no chance to attempt that total before further rain ended play for the day.

The tourists next face Auckland province in a one-day match on Friday before returning to Hamilton for a Twenty20 international against New Zealand on Sunday, proceeds from which will go to victims of the devastating floods that hit Bangladesh last month.

Bangladesh lost their first tour match to Northern Districts on Sunday.

Bangladesh will meet New Zealand in a three-match limited overs series beginning on Dec 26. The teams will also meet in Test matches at Dunedin and Wellington in January.—AP
