Sharif’s appeal rejected

ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has been eliminated from the elections after his appeal against the rejection of his candidacy was rejected, an official said on Tuesday.

The PML-N slammed the decision as evidence that the Jan 8 ballot will be rigged in favour of President Pervez Musharraf.

It described the rejection of his appeal as politically motivated.

“This also shows that they are still afraid of his popularity and cannot face him and there is no level-playing field in these elections,” said party spokesman Ahsan Iqbal.—AP
