Ex-minister disqualified

QUETTA, Dec 14: The Balochistan Election Tribunal ordered the Election Commission on Friday to delete the name of a former provincial minister from the list of candidates for the Jan 8 polls.

The tribunal comprising Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani accepted the appeal filed by Zahoor Ahmed against the acceptance of nomination papers of Muhammad Ali Rind for the PB-49, Kech seat.

The appellant contended that Mr Rind, who belongs to the Balochistan National Party (Awami), could not contest the polls for 10 years in view of the verdict of an accountability court on a corruption case filed against him by the NAB.
