ISLAMABAD, Dec 14: Pakistan has shown interest in exporting trained manpower to Brunei Darussalam.

Caretaker Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Nisar A. Ghuman extended the offer to Brunei High Commissioner of Pehin Colonel Abdul Jalil Ahmad during a meeting here on Friday.

The high commissioner assured the minister that his government would give due consideration to the offer.

Pakistan had a large number of professionals and technical personnel like doctors, paramedics, engineers, teachers, IT specialists, skilled and semi-skilled workers and farmers, the minister informed the high commissioner.

To play down fears of any anti-social elements using the opportunity to sneak into Brunei on the pretext of seeking employment, Mr Ghuman told Mr Ahmad that Pakistan had introduced computerised identity cards and machine-readable passports to check persons involved in crimes.
